Does the South Sheridan Water and Sanitary Sewer District also maintain the storm drainage system?

The South Sheridan Water, Sanitary Sewer and Storm Drainage District was established in 1955.  At that time there was a possibility that the District would also maintain the storm drainage system. This did not materialize and the City of Lakewood maintains the storm draining in the area.  Therefore, your bill only includes charges for water and sanitary sewer service.  In order to clarify services provided by the District the Board adopted a resolution authorizing the District to operate under a trade name (South Sheridan Water and Sanitary Sewer District) for billing and business purposes only.

Does this bill include our water usage?

No, residents of South Sheridan receive a water usage bill from Denver Water.

What is the function of South Sheridan Water and Sanitary Sewer District?

The District maintains the infrastructure for the area’s main sewer and water lines, which includes connecting/transfer stations, hydrants and miles and miles of pipes, valves and meters.

What is a billing cycle?

South Sheridan bills residential and commercial customers every other month beginning in January. Bills are mailed out the first week of the “Billing Month” and are payable within 30 days.  The largest monthly cost of providing water and sanitary sewer service to your home is the cost of treatment that South Sheridan must pay to the Metro Wastewater Reclamation District.

What does South Sheridan Water do with the revenues and fees it collects?

South Sheridan Water, Sanitary Sewer and Storm Drainage District is Certified Record of Proceedings and Budget are filed with the Department of Local Affairs for the State of Colorado (www.dola.colorado.gov).  District expenditures are listed in detail in the budget; some of these expenditures are operation of the District, construction contingency for water and sewer, loan payments, repairs and maintenance of sewer and water lines and sewer treatment.  Sewer treatment is provided by the Metro Wastewater Reclamation District.

Who is CRS?  

CRS, Community Resource Services of Colorado, LLC is a special district management company hired by the District board to manage the district operations and sewer billing and payments.
